About the team

The FIS legal team is comprised of approximately 200 attorneys and paraprofessionals worldwide who enjoy being an advisor to and partnering with our businesses to help the company achieve its goals. We work collaboratively with each other and with our business colleagues to solve problems in an effective and pragmatic manner. 

What you will be doing

This is an exciting opportunity to join FIS regulatory compliance legal team to work on innovative fintech solutions and regulatory matters for our merchant payments, banking and capital markets businesses. The role requires an experienced financial crime counsel that balances a high-growth mindset with world-class compliance and control skills.

Key responsibilities: 
•    Oversee and central point of contact for legal financial crime compliance across Merchant Solutions, Banking and Capital Markets 
•    Partner with the regulatory legal counsel and the compliance team to ensure a collaborative approach 
•    The focus will primarily be the U.K, however will also encompass elements of supporting the EU, Africa, and Asia Pacific 
•    You will ensure all business practices, policies and business activities in financial crime compliance fall within the bounds of the enterprise’s legal posture
•    You will provide advice and counsel on legal issues to the management team and guidance on practical solutions to achieve aims 
•    You will be an advisor to the management team on recent changes in law and regulations and ensure the business are well placed to meet compliance regulations within the region

What you bring

•    You will be a qualified lawyer, ideally with inhouse experience either in the Legal or Compliance function within financial services   
•    AML, Anti Bribery, Financial Crime, Anti Corruption and Sanctions subject matter expertise 
•    An international outlook, with a good understanding of the regulatory framework in the U.K, EU and International Markets 
•    A business partner, with a consultative approach, skilfully able to interrupt regulatory law into to practical business solutions
•    You have familiarity with, and strong interest in, financial services technology, mobile and alternative payments, as well as emerging technology
•    You have the capacity to quickly learn and adapt to new regulations or requirements and develop creative approaches to addressing them
