JOB SUMMARY
This position will be involved in developing and implementing strategies for government and community initiatives and enhancing the company’s image and will support the government affairs functions in Kentucky and Tennessee. The scope of responsibilities may include event planning and execution, community investment, and strategic use of local programming assets. The Manager will also support the company’s Kentucky political action committee by organizing fundraising events, tracking membership metrics, and filing necessary reports with the state.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Actively and consistently supports all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience
Support government affairs objectives by enhancing the company’s public image in the communities served
Establish, build, and maintain strong relationships and partnerships with community leaders, not-for-profit organizations, key corporate departments, and other internal and external third-party constituencies
Work with government affairs to develop a strategic community strategy for Kentucky and Tennessee, including identifying and coordinating community events, sponsorships, and charitable contributions designed to support government affairs business objectives and policy initiatives
Execute high-impact, high-quality events/activities in support of the South Region’s Government and Community Strategies (GCS) community engagement plan and in compliance with marketing, branding, and established GCS standards
Measure, track and analyze associated metrics (activity and engagement) by budgeted category; quality checking for accuracy versus all other metric reporting
Develop and maintain positive associated third-party relationships to support the company’s public policy efforts
Direct strategies and activities that promote company visibility, build a strong company image and increase public awareness of the company’s commitment to the communities it serves
Maximize local programming and other internal assets, including, but not limited to television production capabilities and public service announcements to enhance the company’s community presence and to meet government affairs-related objectives
Develop and manage departmental budgets related to these objectives for Kentucky and Tennessee
Assist in the development of collateral materials and work with government affairs counterparts to meet departmental objectives
Receive assignments in the form of objectives and determine how to use resources to meet schedules and goals
Recommend changes to policies and establishes procedures that affect immediate organization
Other duties as assigned by state government affairs leadership
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Required Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
Effective written, verbal, and presentation skills
Demonstrated success in cultivating and maintaining positive relationships with external constituencies, including community partners, government officials, and other government and quasi-governmental organizations
Ability to keep numerous projects on track and on budget
Must have exceptional attention to detail and a proven ability to follow through on items to completion
Proven project management experience, particularly in leading cross-functional teams
Demonstrated results in developing and implementing successful programs and campaigns and executing events
Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Publishing, etc.)
Required Education
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education
Required Related Work Experience and Number of Years
Significant community or government affairs experience
Government, public or community development – 5+
